VOICE BOX - With Conan

The room the boy (Conan, according to basic ID) is located in is dimly lit. It resembles, ironically enough, what the interrogation room of a police department might look like, if the budget for lights was cut and the room was never painted from its concrete walling. There are no windows of course, save the two way mirror.

And at the moment, for 'special reasons' tied only to the fact that his presence demands reaction from the boy as it appears, he enters now.

He holds behind his back a folder, not that he needs it. All he needs are his words for the moment.

And perhaps, if the boy proves strangely defensive compared to most adult people, a few tools.

Application - Mayfield

Name: Usagi
Personal Journal: N/A
Contact Info: AIM (usagisquared)
Other Characters Played: Fi, Nepeta, Astral
Preferred Housing: I'd find it hilarious if he got stuck with a house of drones, but I'm cool with a random matchup.

Character Name: Gin*
*This is his codename, derived from the alcohol; no one actually knows his real name, so I'd find it hilarious if his first name was 'Gin' (Pronounced 'Gee-n') and his last name 'Jenever', which is Dutch for 'Juniper'... The main source of Gin's flavour.
Character Series: Detective Conan
Character Age: Also an unknown, he's assumed to be in his mid to late thirties.
Background: Tadaaah
Personality: Little is known about the Gin at 'home' but it likely isn't very different from the Gin 'on the job'. Gin as it is, is a codename for an unknown man- part of an organization dressed in the black that reflects their goals, it isn't completely known just what the ultimate task he works for in his career is.

What is known is that he's good at what he does. Gin is cunning, and dangerously smart. His intelligence rivals many, and combined with his cold attitude toward those in his line of sight he is not at all approachable. He is perceptive- he was able to identify someone familiar by a single hair, and he has no remorse for those he feels are useless. For Gin is someone who believes in 'use' and in 'respect'. He believes in professionalism- there is not time for playing around on the job, and he himself has only one noted exception for this...

An exception that appears to be a dangerously obsessed over subject, not that his target can be hunted where he is now. (As it is, he gets quite the mad grin imagining what he'll do with that particular reunion, and the last one involved shooting for pain rather than to kill.)

Furthering on the professionalism and 'use'. Gin fulfils his assignments perfectly, and without a single bit of mercy and remorse for the victim. The job is quick, and kept to the shadows; and following that, the face is erased from his mind just as the life is. Death is fleeting- it happens. It is a means to an end, and it appears that while he very obviously does not have problems with it, he doesn't 'enjoy' it; not unless he actually does know who it is, in which case this is a traitor and they most assuredly deserve to die in his books.

Which would mean that he also values loyalty strangely enough- once a part of the organization, always a part of the organization and its goals. Being away from that is fairly jarring actually- particularly since his position was one of supervision and leadership, albeit one which he tended to extend to the field as much as possible. He was an active member, and a loyal one- more importantly one with a lack of trust for just about everyone around him, which could potentially lead to a feeling of betrayal in the worst sense. (It's not quite likely at the start however, more below.)

Tying into this loyalty is something that somewhat goes against the mentioned statement of performing all of his tasks 'as ordered'. He has more than once acted on his own initiative to take matters into his own hands, and has very little trust for most people, as stated above. He does not appear to truly believe anything by 'word', preferring the phrase 'seeing is believing' so to speak. The closest example of trust he has ever appeared to have is with his partner, Vodka, and Vermouth, both examples of which do not at all prove a shining example for his capabilities in it. With Vodka he's pulled a weapon upon him without a moment's notice, questioning his loyalties and desires as soon as the possibility that [Vodka] was not everything he was came about. As for Vermouth, dislike for the woman aside, any trust he may have in what she says is faltering with her actions in the plot as of late...

Not to mention the fact that he tried to impale her head with an ice pick for disgusing herself as a waiter to tease him.

He does have respect for a number of other members of the organization despite having a low tolerance for the antics of a few in particular however; most likely because of a mix of rank, loyalty, and overall skill. An extremely telling example includes sparing the lives of those within a hospital building at the request of another agent (Kir)- which shows that despite the varied personalities of those he needs to keep in check, he's not only good at it, but willing to place at least a sliver of trust in more than just their abilities. So long as it doesn't interfere with the organization's work, or threaten to expose them, he'll concede. So long as you are still of use... You may live.

In summary, Gin is cold, dangerously cunning, and intelligent. He is a 'survivor'- he kills regularly for a living, and 'war' is quite likely nothing new to him. More importantly on that note, is the fact that he is independent; if he feels one way is 'better', he will take it... But he will not make a decision until he is absolutely sure it will benefit him. He knows how to lay low, and he knows how to hide in plain sight, or else he wouldn't be alive today. While he does likely have a sense of humor, it's a very dark one- if you catch his curiosity or wind up a source of amusement, it's not likely that you'll enjoy it.

Using the above, a small idea of what he's like on 'off time' comes to mind. He's not a people person. He doesn't socialize, he doesn't talk, and in fact likely finds it pointless. If he were an old man he'd probably be the old vet on the front of the lawn glaring at you until you left, he is that kind of guy. He enjoys a good drink in silence, and he thinks things over with logic and common sense. If something odd catches his attention and it doesn't have anything to do with the organization (or his own well being), he'll probably be a bit curious, if even amused.

Of course, if need be, he CAN act like a 'normal' human being... Just don't expect him to act like a normal social human being.
Abilities: KILLING PEOPLE COUNTS? In all seriousness, there's nothing magical about thinking logically and being able to shoot people. He's probably considerably capable at hand to hand as well, right down to being able to snap your neck in a second.

HOWEVER... He kills only when necessary. When someone is a threat, or a potential spanner in the works, or an assigned hit. So much as he might briefly ponder shooting someone through the skull for their annoyance, he's dealt with worse believe it or not. So he won't.

You can bet that he will if he needs to/wants to though, and he can come up with some mighty creative (but simple) ways to do it.
Sample Entry: I HAVE A JOURNAL FOR ONCE. (Sample entry is here in other words. ...My prose is like action spam with brackets and quotations switched anyways? If the sample isn't enough let me know.)

VOICE BOX - Mayfield Testing - SHINDIGS.

Someone just appeared in the middle of the hall just as everyone else in the town has and still are, with what is probably an expected reaction to some- there's brief shock on his face, given that he obviously didn't expect this (at least he's dressed), but the fact is he drops the expression swiftly, narrowed green eyes surveying his location, the people around him... Everything.

While perhaps not quite as recognizable to those of his world as he would be, given the clothes he was forced to wear, his hair is likely a dead give-away...

Regardless, it's fairly clear that socializing is not on his mind.
